I'm Rina Syjuco, the baker behind Cakes on 28th.
My journey into the sweet world of baking began as a simple hobby and has since blossomed into a delightful adventure filled with flour, sugar, and endless creativity. My mom and grandmother taught me how to bake as a kid. The cakes I make today are based on their original recipes.
As far back as I can remember, baking has always been a soothing presence in my life. Cakes on 28th was born during the pandemic and was a way to channel my anxiety into something beautiful and delicious. I started Cakes on 28th as a way to share not just baked goods but also a slice of comfort and joy.
I started out by offering my signature Caramel and Ube (Purple Yam) cakes but eventually discovered my passion for custom cake creations. Since 2021 I've done floral buttercream cakes for special occasions, theme cakes for all the kids (and kids at heart), and wedding cakes to name a few.
